the art of...

these pics are from caffe artigiano, home of the canadian barista champion (2003-2005) and more importantly, my favorite cup of latte anywhere in the world. pair that with a cranberry biscotti, a good book, some good tunes or a lively conversation and i am a happy camper.
i love it when coffee is made with a bit of tlc, and not mass produced with no foam, extra hot, soy milk, half cream, non-fat, sugar-free vanilla shot, tall coffee in a venti cup type things. sadly, it's hard to get a decent cup of coffee like caffe artigiano in hk so i've succuumed to places like starbucks for my daily caffeine fixes. it's sad really and not to mention hella expensive. a short drip coffee at starbucks costs around $24 hkd...and tall espressos and lattes are well over $30 hkd. even with the fantastic exchange rate of 6.8% these days, it costs on average about $5 cdn for a cup of starbucks coffee.
this is why i'm going to give up coffee for lent.
a) i was spending a ridculous amount of money on it which can be spent more wisely elsewhere
b) i wanted it to be a personal sacrifice because i literaly crave the smell and taste of coffee everyday...especially during the winter and long work days
so bye bye coffee. see you in 40 days.
and i apologize in advance for any crankiness in the next 40 days as well.
